New Athens collision is subject of injury suit

A St. Clair County man claims he was injured after a collision with a St. Clair County woman.

On Dec. 20, 2007, David Rieso was driving south on Route 13 near its intersection with Robinson School Road in New Athens when Brenda Henneke, who was driving behind him, collided with his vehicle, according to the complaint filed Feb. 27 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

Because of the accident, Rieso sustained permanently disabling and disfiguring injuries to his neck and back and experienced great pain and mental anguish, the suit states.

He also claims he lost large sums of money because of his inability to pursue a normal, gainful occupation and incurred medical expenses.

Henneke was negligent by failing to reduce her speed to avoid a collision, by driving too fast for the traffic conditions, by failing to keep a proper lookout for other vehicles on the road, by failing to stop her vehicle in a safe and timely manner and by failing to keep her vehicle under control, according to the complaint.

Rieso is seeking a judgment in excess of $50,000, plus costs.

Shane M. Moskop of Freeark, Harvey, Mendillo, Dennis, Wuller, Cain and Murphy in Belleville will be representing him.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-0110.
