CVS sued by customer over slip on substance

Amie Mayden of O'Fallon is seeking in excess of $50,000 in damages from CVS Pharmacy for having slipped and fell on a substance in a store last year.

Mayden filed the suit in St. Clair County Circuit Court on Jan. 28.

The store location is not indicated in the complaint.

Mayden claims the incident took place Feb. 22, 2008.

She hurt her shoulder and elbow, among other things, the suit claims.

"The plaintiff was made sick, sore, lame, disordered and disabled and suffered extensive injuries to her head, body and limbs, both internally and externally," the complaint states.

She claims CVS is negligent for allowing a substance to be spilled on the floor without cleaning it up. She also claims CVS failed to warn customers of the spilled substance.

Mayden is represented by Van-Lear Eckert of Williams, Caponi, Foley & Eckert in Belleville.
