St. Louis order on back rent filed in St. Clair County court

A St. Louis circuit judge has ordered two men to pay more than $50,000 each after they failed to make rent payments since July.

The order comes after Weil Avenue Associates filed suit against Alliance Stone and Design, alleging Alliance had not paid its monthly rent payments since July 21.

The two companies entered into a lease agreement that stated Alliance was to pay $3,596 in monthly rent payments, plus common area maintenance charges from Feb. 15, 2006, until Feb. 28, according to the order filed Jan. 18 in St. Louis County Circuit Court.

Both Ray B. Wetherell III and William Lee Graft guaranteed Alliance would pay the rent payments due, the suit states.

St. Louis County Circuit Judge Maura McShane dropped the first count against Alliance, but ordered Wetherell and Graft to pay $91,923.46 in unpaid rent and $3,955.60 in late fees, plus $31,959.68 in attorney's fees and interest of nine percent.
