A dram shop suit has been filed against Sandy Ridge in East St. Louis by a boy whose parents and sister were severely injured in an auto accident last year.
Dennis Cordevant, III, a minor, claims his parents, Dennis and Frances Cordevant, and sister Kaylee Cordevant, were hurt after an accident that occurred June 3 on Stolle Road, according to a suit filed Jan. 21 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.
The auto accident was caused by Sandy Ridge patron Michael Byrd, who was allegedly intoxicated and served at Sandy Ridge, the complaint states.
According to the suit brought through the child's father, Dennis Cordevant, video footage critical to the prosecution of the case was destroyed, even though plaintiff had requested surveillance camera video be preserved.
The suit seeks damages for the boy's loss of society of his parents, loss of support of his father and spoliation of evidence.
Cordevant is represented by Russell Watters, James Craney and David Wilkins of Brown and James in St. Louis.
