Tom Lakin has been disbarred on consent by the Illinois Supreme Court, according to records from the Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission (ARDC).
Lakin, who founded the Lakin Law Firm in Wood River, was sentenced in October to six years in federal prison on various drug charges. He pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine, distributing cocaine to a person under 21 and using his home to distribute drugs.
He is incarcerated at the Forrest City Federal Correctional Complex in eastern Arkansas. Following his prison term, he will serve six years of supervised release.
Jerome Larkin, ARDC administrator, indicated Lakin's name was stricken from the roll of attorneys on Tuesday.
A misconduct investigation had been pending before the ARDC.
