A man who was injured in an accident has filed suit against the man who struck him.
Justin B. Mattea claims he was stopped in traffic while heading west on Frank Scott Parkway at its intersection with Sullivan Drive in Swansea when Robert Benoist struck his vehicle on Jan. 16, 2007.
Because of the accident, Mattea suffered injuries to his left wrist, head, neck, back, muscles, tendons, tissues, nerves, ligaments and cartilage and incurred lost wages, the suit filed Jan. 15 in St. Clair County Circuit Court states.
His vehicle also received $1,054.50 worth of damage, he alleges.
Benoist was negligent by driving too fast, by following Mattea too closely, by failing to keep a proper lookout and by failing to keep his car under control, according to the complaint.
In the two-count suit, Mattea is seeking a judgment in excess of $50,000 and costs for damage to his vehicle, plus court costs.
He is representing himself.
