A man who claims he was injured after a fight with an intoxicated man has filed suit against the bar that served the allegedly drunken person alcohol.
Lawrence R. Militello claims a man, whose name he does not know, assaulted him on Feb. 26 after obtaining alcoholic liquors from Sparky's 397 Pub, according to the complaint filed Jan. 9 in Madison County Circuit Court.
"That said alcoholic liquors consumed by an individual, name unknown, caused his impairment and intoxication, and while intoxicated/impaired, as a result of the intoxication/impairment, this individual assaulted Plaintiff, Lawrence R. Militello, causing severe injuries," the suit states.
Because of the fight, Militello sustained permanent and serious bodily injury, which caused him to incur pain and suffering, disability and medical costs, plus he has been unable to pursue his natural pursuits of life, he claims.
Militello is seeking a judgment in excess of $50,000, plus costs.
He is represented by Laura A. Cole of Smith, Mendenhall and Selby in Alton.
