A roofing company that began to perform roofing work on the incorrect house is facing a lawsuit.
Davis Roofing removed shingles and other roofing materials from a building at 1436 North 40th Street in East St. Louis, according to a lawsuit Hughet Woodhouse, the building's owner, filed Jan. 8 in Madison County Circuit Court.
"The Plaintiff had no agreement or contract with the Defendants to remove shingles and roofing materials from his building," the suit states. "The Plaintiff had not authorized or otherwise directed the Defendants to perform work on his building."
Davis Roofing was negligent by removing roofing materials from the building without first verifying the work was being done on the correct building, Woodhouse claims.
Woodhouse is seeking a judgment in excess of $50,000 but less than $75,000.
William S. Beatty of Beatty and Motil of Glen Carbon will be representing him.
Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-0009.
