Rajendra Patel has filed suit against Chelsea Gassett, alleging he was injured after a collision.
Patel was driving west on Niedringhaus Avenue near its intersection with 21st Street on Jan. 4, 2007, at about 6:30 p.m. when Gassett, who was driving southeast on 21st Street near the same intersection, collided with him, according to the complaint filed Dec. 26 in Madison County Circuit Court.
"At the aforesaid time and place, a stop sign controlled Gassett at this intersection and Patel had no traffic control device controlling his direction of travel," the suit states.
Because of the accident, Patel incurred medical expenses and experienced disability, pain and suffering, loss of a normal life and loss of income, he claims.
Gassett was negligent by failing to yield at an intersection and by failing to maintain a lookout for other vehicles, according to the complaint.
Patel is seeking a judgment in excess of $50,000, plus costs.
