MADISON - ST. CLAIR RECORD

A total of 13 new asbestos lawsuits were filed in Madison County during the week of Dec. 22 through Dec. 26.

The following claims were filed:

--Cordelia Ann Brooks of Georgia claims mesothelioma on behalf of her recently deceased husband, James Brooks. James Brooks worked from 1963 until 2005 as a draftsman, machinist, contract mechanical worker, heating installer, ventilation installer, air conditioning installer, repairman and maintenance technician at various locations, according to the complaint. --Waintheus L. Brown of Texas claims mesothelioma on behalf of his recently deceased mother, Betty Jean Brown. Betty Jean Brown worked from 1971 until 1999 as a practical nurse, certified nurse's aid and janitor at various locations, according to the complaint. Waintheus L. --Gary and Debra Crosby of Ohio claim Gary Crosby developed mesothelioma from his work as a salesman, engineer, supervisor, specialist, training coordinator and machinist from 1974 until now. --Jerri Fitzwater of Indiana claims lung cancer on behalf of her recently deceased father, Billie A. Berlin. Berlin worked from 1956 until 1996 as a material handler and fork truck driver at various locations, according to the complaint. Fitzwater is represented by Robert Phillips and Perry J. --Karen Jeppesen of Wisconsin claims mesothelioma on behalf of her recently deceased husband, Gerald Jeppesen. Gerald Jeppesen worked from 1967 until 1996 as a maintenance worker and systems operations technician at various locations, according to the complaint. --Jacqueline Jones of Missouri, who worked in clerical positions from 1973 through this year, claims mesothelioma. She was also exposed to asbestos fibers through her first ex-husband who worked as a laborer at Anheuser-Busch and would carry the fibers home with him on his clothing, according to the complaint. --Larry and Louise McDaniels claim Larry McDaniels developed mesothelioma from his work as a machinist mate, equipment attendant, power plant helper and operator, powerhouse operator and a shade tree mechanic from the 1950s until now. --Raymond Penrod III of Nevada claims mesothelioma on behalf of his recently deceased father, Raymond Penrod II. Raymond Penrod II worked as a laborer from 1962 until 1964 at various locations, according to the complaint. Raymond Penrod III is represented by Robert Phillips and Perry J. --Joseph and Patsy Stahl of Wisconsin claim Joseph Stahl developed mesothelioma from his work as a military police officer and sheet metal worker from 1951 until 1997. They are represented by Randy L. Gori and Barry Julian of Gori, Julian and Associates in Alton. Case number: 08-L-1216.

--Doit Walsh of Illinois, a construction carpenter from 1955 to 1985 at various locations throughout Illinois, claims mesothelioma. He is represented by T. Barton French Jr. of French and Mudd in St. Louis. Case number: 08-L-1219.

--Lillian H. Yeomans of Florida claims mesothelioma on behalf of her deceased husband, William E. Yeomans. William served in the U.S. Navy from 1932 until 1936 and worked as a blower, scheduler, courier, carpenter, remodeler, builder, finishing worker and finishing carpenter from 1936 until at least 1954, according to the complaint.
