Man drives into tree, suit follows

An Alton man has filed suit against another Alton man, alleging he was injured after the man drove into a tree.

Reginald B. Price claims Mark D. Shorter was driving north on U.S. 67 in St. Charles County on Dec. 31, 2006, when he drove off the road and hit a tree, according to the complaint filed Dec. 22 in Madison County Circuit Court.

Because of the collision, Price was made sick, sore, lame and disordered, suffered injuries to his left shoulder and head and suffered a loss of earning capacity, according to the complaint.

He also claims he experienced pain and suffering, incurred medical costs and suffered disability and disfigurement.

Shorter was negligent by failing to keep his vehicle under proper control, by driving too fast, by failing to brake or steer to keep his car on the road and by failing to keep a proper lookout for other vehicles, according to the complaint.

Price is seeking a judgment in excess of $50,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.

Roy C. Dripps of The Lakin Law Firm in Wood River will be representing him.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 08-L-1202.
