Injuries claimed in Baugh Avenue accident

Clenelle Johnson has filed suit against Gregory L. Patrick, alleging he was injured after a collision.

Johnson was driving west on Baugh Avenue in East St. Louis on Dec. 24, 2006, at about 2:30 a.m. when the accident occurred, according to the complaint filed Dec. 23 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

Patrick was driving north on First Street at its intersection with Baugh Avenue at the same time and collided with Johnson, the suit states.

Because of the accident, Johnson claims he suffered neck, back, head and hand injuries, endured pain and suffering and suffered a disability.

He also incurred medical expenses and lost wages, according to the complaint.

Patrick was negligent by failing to maintain a proper lookout, by failing to keep his vehicle under control, by failing to reduce his speed to avoid a collision and by failing to yield to Johnson's vehicle, the suit states.

Johnson is seeking a judgment in excess of $50,000, plus costs.

Darren E. Daley of Columbia is representing Johnson.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 08-L-658.
