Latonyer Edwards-Dupuy has filed suit against Hai Ly, alleging her neck, shoulder and low back were injured after Ly struck the side of her vehicle.
Edwards-Dupuy was driving west in a parking lot at 1620 Lebanon Avenue in Belleville on Oct. 1 when Ly, who was driving south in the same parking lot, collided with the side of her vehicle, according to a complaint filed Dec. 22 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.
In addition to her injuries, Edwards-Dupuy was made sick, sore, lame, disordered and disabled and incurred medical expenses, the suit states.
She also claims she suffered disability, experienced pain and suffering, lost money from a loss of wages and suffered an impairment of her future earning capacity.
Ly was negligent by failing to keep a proper lookout, by driving into the side of Edwards-Dupuy's vehicle, by failing to brake, by driving too fast and by failing to properly back his vehicle in a safe way, according to the complaint.
Edwards-Dupuy is seeking $50,000, plus costs.
Thomas C. Rich and Jennifer L. Barbieri of Fairview Heights will be representing her.
