Debra Schuerich has filed suit against George Sibert, alleging her neck, back and organs were injured after he rear-ended her, causing her truck to overturn.
Schuerich was driving her Ford Ranger west on Illinois 161 and was turning right into a business establishment in Belleville on April 2 when Sibert, who was driving his 2006 GM 1500 crew cab west, struck her vehicle in the rear, according to the complaint filed Dec. 19 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.
After the collision, Schuerich's vehicle overturned and she "was violently thrown within the confines of her vehicle," the suit states.
Because of the accident, Schuerich claims she suffered great pain and mental anguish, incurred medical expenses and was forced to have surgery on her neck.
She also has been unable to pursue the ordinary duties of her life, according to the complaint.
Sibert was negligent by failing to keep a proper lookout, by failing to keep his vehicle under proper control, by driving too fast, by following Schuerich's vehicle too closely and by failing to stop to avoid hitting the back of Schuerich's truck, the suit states.
Schuerich is seeking a judgment in excess of $50,000, plus costs.
Paul M Storment Jr. of Belleville will be representing her.
