Steve Haxton has filed suit against Mary K. Simpson, alleging he was seriously injured after a collision.
Haxton was driving on Chain of Rock Road in Edwardsville on Jan. 13, 2007, when Simpson, who was driving on the same road, hit him, according to the complaint filed Dec. 12 in Madison County Circuit Court.
Because of the accident, Haxton was seriously bruised, contused and injured, suffered great pain and mental anguish and incurred medical expenses, the suit states.
Haxton was unable to carry on his usual duties and will be required to spend significant amounts of money for the rest of his life, he claims.
Simpson was negligent by failing to keep a proper lookout, by failing to look and see things that were obviously visible, by failing to keep her vehicle under control to avoid a collision, by failing to use every precaution to avoid a collision, by failing to drive at a reasonable speed and by failing to keep her vehicle in the proper lane, according to the complaint.
Haxton is seeking a judgment in excess of $50,000.
He is represented by Morgan Scroggins of Scroggins Law Office in Granite City.
