Alicia and Kevin Jacobs have filed suit against Lindell Recar, alleging they were seriously injured after he collided with them.
Kevin was diving north on North 17th Street near its intersection with Route 161 in Belleville on July 24 and Alicia was a passenger in the vehicle, according to the complaint filed Dec. 11 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.
At the same time, Recar was driving south on Sullivan/North 17th Street near at the same intersection, the suit states.
While attempting to make a left turn onto Route 161, Recar crossed into the Jacobs' line of traffic and collided with their vehicle, they claim.
Because of the accident, the Jacobs have suffered severe and permanently disabling injuries, lost large sums of money because of their inability to work and incurred medical expenses, according to the complaint.
Alicia sustained injuries to her back and body, the suit states.
Kevin sustained injuries to his chest, back and body, he claims.
Recar was negligent by failing to yield to other vehicles, by failing to keep a proper lookout, by failing to keep his vehicle under proper control and by driving too fast, the Jacobs allege.
In the two-count suit, they are seeking a judgment in excess of $100,000, plus costs.
