Man in parked car claims thumb injury in collision

Harry Beasley has filed suit against Mark A. Pruetzel, alleging his right thumb was injured after Pruetzel hit his parked car.

Beasley was parked on the side of Discovery Parkway near its intersection with Landmark Boulevard on Oct. 5 at 12:58 a.m. when Pruetzel collided with Beasley's vehicle, according to the complaint filed Dec. 8 in Madison County Circuit Court.

In addition to his injured thumb, Beasley experienced past and future pain and suffering, past and future disability, past and future lost wages, past and future medical expenses and past and future diminution of earning capacity, the suit states.

Beasley claims Pruetzel was negligent because he did not reduce his speed to avoid a collision, drove too fast for road conditions, failed to keep a proper lookout and drove under the influence of alcohol.

Beasley is seeking a judgment in an amount necessary to confer jurisdiction in Madison County Circuit Court, plus costs.

Lance R. Mallon and Dawna M. Hale of the Mallon Law Firm in Wood River will be representing him.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 08-L-1153.
