A St. Clair County woman has filed suit against a St. Clair County man, alleging she was seriously injured after he hit her as she was walking across the street.
Deanna L. Urban was walking across a marked crosswalk immediately adjacent and north of the Shop N' Save Grocery Store in Belleville on Jan. 28, 2007, at 11:30 a.m. when Edward G. Bowman, who was driving a 2004 GM Silverado pick up truck west, lost control and struck Urban, according to the complaint filed Dec. 3 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.
In addition to her injuries, Urban incurred medical costs, has experienced pain and physical restrictions, has lost part of her enjoyment of ordinary living and has lost earnings, the suit states.
Bowman was negligent because he failed to yield right of way, failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to keep his vehicle under proper control, drove too fast, failed to stop or slow down to avoid an accident and drove his vehicle so that it collided with Urban, she claims.
Urban is seeking a judgment in excess of $50,000, plus costs.
Robert C. Nelson of Nelson and Nelson in Belleville will be representing her.
