A woman who fell on a Madison County Transit (MCT) bus filed a personal injury suit against the bus company, alleging the driver began to drive before she was seated.
Shei-La Campbell claims she boarded the bus on Dec. 10, 2007, on Edwards Street in Alton.
According to Campbell, while she was attempting to be seated, the driver suddenly moved, causing her to fall and be injured.
She filed suit Oct. 23, in Madison County Circuit Court.
Campbell claims MCT was negligent by placing the vehicle in motion while she was still standing and failed to warn her that the bus would be moving before she reached her seat.
According to Campbell, the fall caused injuries to her right knee, which caused and continue to cause pain of body and mind, medical expenses and lost wages.
She is seeking a judgment in excess of $15,000, but less than $50,000.
Samuel Mormino, Jr., of Alton will represent Campbell.
The case is awaiting mandatory arbitration.
