Vernida Edwards has filed suit against Ronald L. Modhorst, claiming she was injured after Modhorst's vehicle collided with her car.
Edwards was driving east at the intersection of Illinois Route 161 and Frank Scott Parkway in Belleville on Nov. 20, 2007, when Modhorst, who was driving west, collided with her, according to the complaint filed Oct. 16 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.
In addition to her injuries, Edwards was forced to pay substantial medical costs and has suffered pain, discomfort, disability, loss of normal life and mental anguish, the suit states.
Edwards claims Modhorst was negligent because he failed to keep a proper lookout for other vehicles, failed to reduce his speed and drove too fast.
Edwards is seeking a judgment in excess of $50,000, plus costs.
