Nancy McKenney has filed suit against Paul Patterson, claiming he rear-ended her vehicle causing her bodily injuries.
McKenney claims she was driving southbound on Lakin Boulevard near its intersection with Route 143 in Wood River on Oct. 27, 2006, according to a complaint filed Aug. 25 in Madison County Circuit Court.
She claims Patterson's vehicle, which was driving on the same road in the same direction as she was, and collided with the rear of her of her car.
McKenney claims she suffered serious and permanent injury; past, present and future pain and suffering; past, present and future medical and hospital expenses; and permanent disability.
She claims Patterson was negligent because he drove his vehicle in an improper and careless manner, drove his vehicle at an excessive speed for the road conditions, drove his vehicle at an excessive rate of speed, disregarded traffic signs and signals, failed to maintain a proper lookout on the highway, failed to maintain a proper lookout in front of his vehicle, failed to keep his vehicle under proper control, failed to keep the steering of the vehicle in proper order, failed to steer his vehicle in order to avoid striking another vehicle, failed to keep the brakes of the vehicle in proper order, followed another vehicle more closely than reasonable, failed to brake his vehicle in order to avoid striking another vehicle and failed to obey a traffic control signal at an intersection.
McKenney is seeking a sum in excess of $50,000, plus court costs.
