A woman injured in an automobile accident has filed a personal injury lawsuit against the driver of a vehicle alleged to have caused the collision.
Brandi Macmanus claims she was a passenger in a vehicle driving in the northern westbound lane of Interstate 64 at milepost 9 near Caseyville on April 28, 2007, when Deanre Cortez Jones struck the rear of the vehicle after deflecting off the median.
According to the complaint filed Aug. 22 in St. Clair County Circuit Court, after Jones struck the rear of car Macmanus was riding in, it rolled several times after losing control.
Macmanus claims Jones negligently failed to drive on the right side of the roadway, failed to operate his vehicle in a single lane of traffic, failed to keep a proper lookout and drove at a speed that was dangerous and unreasonable.
She claims the collision caused her to sustain disabling injuries, which caused and will continue to cause pain and suffering, lost wages and medical expenses.
John Wendler of Edwardsville represents Macmanus. She seeks damages in excess of $50,000, plus costs.
