Madison County License Beverage Association (MCLBA) has filed a civil complaint against Marilyn Maul of East Alton, alleging she misappropriated funds for her personal use.
Represented by James Schrempf, MCLBA alleges Maul is an officer and member of the association, and as such has a fiduciary duty to protect the assets of the not-for-profit corporation.
According to the complaint filed Aug. 15 in Madison County Circuit Court, contrary to her fiduciary duties, Maul misappropriated funds belonging to MCLBA to her personal use in an amount in excess of $15,000.
MCLBA is seeking a judgment against Maul "for an equitable sum" less than $50,000, together with attorney's fees and costs of the suit.
The case is awaiting mandatory arbitration.
