Woman sues over accident

By Steve Gonzalez | Aug 19, 2008

Linda Smith has filed a personal injury lawsuit against Tina Marie Iler in Madison County Circuit Court on Aug. 18, alleging Iler failed to keep a proper lookout for pedestrians.

Smith claims she was in a crosswalk attempting to cross Washington Avenue in Alton on May 20 when Iler struck her with her 1989 Chevrolet Beretta.

Lanny Darr of Alton represents Smith.

According to Smith, Iler was negligently operated her vehicle by driving at a speed greater than reasonable, failing to keep proper control over her vehicle and failing to brake her vehicle.

She claims the collision caused both temporary and permanent injuries that cause pain, medical expenses and loss of a normal life.

Smith is seeking a judgment in excess of $50,000, plus costs.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Court Judge Andy Matoesian.
