Tenet sues landlord over injuries

A feud between a tenant and his landlord has resulted in a personal injury lawsuit being filed in Madison County Circuit Court on Aug. 14.

Jonathan Greer claims his landlord, Robert Scaturro, "maliciously and vengefully" turned off his electricity without just cause and without his knowledge on Sept. 26, 2006.

He also claims later the same day, Scaturro also tried to forcefully evict him without a court order or justification.

Greer rents 4140 Pontoon Road in Pontoon Beach from Scaturro.

Greer claims while Scaturro was trying to remove him he tried to walk down stairs in the dark and was caused to fall down the stairs making him lame, sore, sick and disabled.

According to Greer, Scaturro was negligent by allowing the electricity to be turned off leaving the premises in an unsafe condition.

Greer claims his injuries have and will in the future cause pain and suffering, loss of a normal life, lost wages and medical expenses.

Morgan Scroggins of Granite City represents Greer, who is seeking a judgment in excess of $50,000.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge David Hylla.
