A signal maintainer for Norfolk Southern Railway Co. filed a Federal Employers' Liability Act complaint claiming injuries from repetitive trauma and for an accident that happened in 2005.
According to a suit filed Aug. 12 in Madison County Circuit Court, Timothy Gasper claims his vehicle was struck by a train while he was working on the railroad. He claims he suffered neck and shoulder injuries as a result of the incident.
Gasper also claims that through the course of his railroad career, from 2004 through 2008, he was subjected to numerous repetitive trauma while repairing signals and tracks.
Gasper claims the railroad failed to provide him a safe place to work, among other things. He is seeking in excess of $100,000 in damages.
He is represented by Gregory M. Tobin of Pratt & Tobin in East Alton.
