Katherine Motes claims her 2002 Chevrolet Impala LS was rear-ended on eastbound I-64 in Fairview Heights by a vehicle driven by Meaghan Quinlan of Collinsville, according to a lawsuit filed in St. Clair County Circuit Court.
Motes, who said she had slowed for traffic in the right hand lane near mile marker 12 in Fairview Heights when the collision occurred, claims she suffered injuries to her abdomen, neck, back, shoulder, rib and wrist.
The complaint was filed Aug. 14. The incident occurred at approximately 4:57 p.m. on May 12, 2007.
Motes is seeking in excess of $150,000, including damages for her passenger, a minor daughter, Justyse Zimmerman.
She claims Quinlan was negligent for not observing her vehicle "when it could and should have been seen and observed," the complaint states.
Motes is represented by attorney Richard G. Reed and Jeanine R. Armstrong of Reed and Bruhn of Belleville.
