Wet, dangerous floor at Walgreens subject of personal injury suit

Walgreens in Granite City is being sued by a woman who slipped and fell at the store April 23.

According to a suit filed May 15 in Madison County Circuit Court, Sharon Robinson claims she was walking near the cosmetics counter and display when she slipped in water and fell, sustaining serious injuries.

Robinson claims Walgreens negligently failed to have a safe procedure for cleaning and removing water from the floor, failed to place warning signs or cones in a manner visible to customers in the area of the wet floor and failed to warn customers of the use of cleaning equipment which caused the floor to be in a wet, dangerous condition.

According to Robinson the fall caused her to receive internal and external injuries to her neck, shoulders and low back which caused pain and suffering. She claims she became liable for medical care, lost wages and sustained a disability.

Represented by Thomas Rich of Fairview Heights, Robinson is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, plus costs.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Nicholas Byron.
