Chain of Rocks Road collision prompts personal injury suit

A man injured in a 2006 car accident filed a personal injury complaint against Sarah Scott in Madison County Circuit Court May 19, alleging Scott was allegedly under the influence of drugs and alcohol when she collided with him.

Scott Haxton claims he was driving on Chain of Rocks Road in Edwardsville on Aug. 26, 2006, when Scott collided with him causing serious injuries.

Haxton claims Scott was negligent by failing to keep a proper lookout, failing to look and see things that were obviously visible, failing to keep her vehicle under proper control and failing to use every precaution to avoid a collision.

He also claims Scott failed to operate her vehicle at a speed reasonable and proper under the conditions that existed so as not to endanger the safety of people or property and failed to keep her vehicle in the proper lane.

According to Haxton, the collision caused him to become seriously bruised, contused, and injured which caused and continues to cause great pain and mental anguish, medical expenses and lost wages.

Represented by Morgan Scroggins of Granite City, Haxton is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, plus costs.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge David Hylla
