Wrist and shoulder injuries claimed in FELA suit against Illinois Central

Donald Grammer of Murphysboro filed a Federal Employers' Liability Act suit against Illinois Central Railroad claiming wrist and shoulder injuries as a result of repetitive and cumulative occupational trauma.

According to a suit filed April 25 in St. Clair County Circuit Court, Grammer worked as a brakeman and switchman at Illinois Central's Venice and East St. Louis yards, as well as at the Baldwin Power Plant terminal.

He claims he was exposed to excessive and harmful cumulative trauma to his bilateral wrists and right shoulder while he performed his work duties.

Grammer has been employed by Illinois Central and its various predecessors since 1964, the complaint states.

Among other things, Grammer claims the railroad is negligent for failing to provide him a safe place to work.

Represented by Paul W. Johnson of Kujawski & Associates in O'Fallon, Grammer is seeking in excess of $50,000 in damages plus costs of the suit.
