Diesel mechanic files FELA complaint against Norfolk Southern

A man who claims injuries to his back and spine were caused by repetitive traumas while employed as a diesel mechanic for Norfolk Southern Railway, filed a Federal Employers' Liability Act suit in Madison County Circuit Court April 14.

Seeking damages in excess of $50,000, Denny Cambron claims that he repaired engines in Norfolk's diesel shop from 1973 through 2005.

He alleges that Norfolk violated FELA by failing to provide him with a reasonably safe place to work, failing to provide safe methods of work, failing to provide sufficient manpower and by failing to provide safe tools and equipment.

According to the complaint, Cambron's permanent injuries have caused him great pain and mental anguish, lost wages and medical expenses.

Warren is represented by Gregory Tobin of Pratt & Tobin in East Alton.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Barbara Crowder.
