A Norfolk Southern employee who was injured while unloading railroad cars filed a personal injury complaint in Madison County Circuit Court April 14, alleging she sustained painful and permanent injuries.
Angela Ingram of East St. Louis claims she was working at the Venice Yard when she injured her right ankle, right knee and right hip when she fell in a hole caused by a burst water pipe on Jan. 12, 2007.
"Norfolk Southern owed Angela Ingram a duty to maintain the property being occupied by Ingram, and failed to do so," the complaint states.
Ingram claims her injuries caused her to incur medical expenses and lose wages. She also claims she will continue to experience pain and suffering and loss of a normal life.
Represented by Gerard Schneller of Holland Groves in St. Louis, Ingram is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, plus costs.
The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge David Hylla.
