JC Auto Sales in Belleville is being sued by a man who claims the used car dealership negligently entrusted a test driver to operate a vehicle which rear-ended him at a Belleville intersection.
Bobby Robinson, Jr. is seeking in excess of $50,000 from JC Auto Sales and from Dearis M. Quarles over an auto accident that happened on Oct. 6, 2006.
According to a suit filed April 2 in St. Clair County Circuit Court, Robinson was stopped on westbound North Belt West at its intersection with West Main Street when Quarles struck the rear of his vehicle with the 1997 Chevrolet Monte Carlo that was being test-driven.
"That JC Auto Sales breached its duty by negligently entrusting Defendant, Quarles, without properly ascertaining Defendant, Quarles', ability to operate the vehicle owned by Defendant JC Auto Sales," the complaint states.
Robinson claims he suffered injuries to his back, neck and other parts of his body.
He is represented by Thomas R. Ysursa of Belleville.
