A 32-year Norfolk Southern Railway employee filed a Federal Employers' Liability Act complaint in Madison County Circuit Court Jan. 25, alleging years of fixing railroad tracks have subjected him to repetitive stress injuries.
Jeff Kelly claims Norfolk failed to provide him a reasonably safe place to work, failed to provide safe methods of work, failed to provide sufficient manpower and failed to provide him safe tools and equipment.
He claims those alleged negligent acts caused him to sustain severe and permanent injuries to his right and left knees which cause him to suffer great pain and mental anguish, lose wages and incur medical expenses.
Represented by David Jones of Pratt & Tobin in East Alton, Kelly is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, plus costs of the suit.
The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Nicholas Byron.
