Joseph Delozier of Belleville filed suit against Rakers Electric Contracting for damages in excess of $50,000 over a workplace accident at Joseph Arthur Middle School, which is under construction in O'Fallon.
Delozier, a plumber, claims that on Nov. 13, 2007, an employee of Rakers Electric placed a temporary wire on the ground across a doorway to a classroom, according to a suit filed Jan. 22 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.
"That plaintiff while carrying two large pieces of pipe tripped on the wire when he walked through the doorway," the complaint states.
Delozier is represented by Bruce R. Cook of Cook, Ysursa, Bartholomew, Brauer & Shevlin of Belleville.
He claims to have sustained severe and permanent injuries to his left leg.
Delozier also alleges that he has lost large sums of money by his inability to pursue his normal gainful occupation and that he has had to pay large sums of money in hospital and medical treatment.
