All Cities Recovery Agency and its workers are being sued for $600,000 by a woman claiming she was run off the road while in pursuit of employees repossessing her car.
Rilexias Jones claims her vehicle was repossessed shortly after midnight on Jan. 8 by co-defendant Robin Silas of Granite City and another unnamed employee of All Cities.
According to the suit filed Jan. 17 in St. Clair County Circuit Court, the unnamed employee drove Jones' vehicle from her residence while Silas drove away in the second vehicle.
"Plaintiff got in to a 2002 GMC SUV and followed the vehicles operated by the All Cities employees/agents in order to determine who took her car and where the car was being taken," the complaint states.
"While driving on the Illinois Route 203 ramp from I-55/70, Defendant Silas ran Plaintiff's vehicle off the road.
"As a result of the accident, Plaintiff's vehicle rolled over and came to rest on its hood after striking the guard rail."
Jones, who seeks in excess of $100,000 in compensatory damages and in excess of $500,000 in punitive damages, claims the defendants failed to stop or remain at the scene, failed to contact the police and failed to render her any aid.
She claims serious and permanent injuries to her head, brain, neck, back, spine, shoulders, chest and right foot.
"Defendants' conduct was willful and wanton in that Defendant Silas operated her vehicle in a reckless manner...which conduct subjects Defendants to liability for punitive damages," the complaint states.
Jones is represented by Kevin A. Sullivan of Sauter Sullivan in St. Louis.
