Willow Creek named in wrongful death suit

A daughter of a Belleville nursing home resident has filed suit on behalf of her deceased mother whom she claims was negligently cared for at Willow Creek Rehabilitation & Nursing Center.

Yvonne Jordan claims her mother Amie Neely developed pressure ulcers and suffered dehyrdration during her stay at Willow Creek between Sept. 26, 2005, and Nov. 18, 2005.

Jordan also claims her mother was allowed to lie in her own waste for prolonged periods of time and was not kept clean and dry while a resident at Willow Creek.

According to the suit filed Nov. 16 in St. Clair County Circuit Court, Neely died Dec. 9, 2005, at the age of 88. Her deteriorated physical and mental condition contributed to her cause of death, the complaint states.

Represented by Staci M. Yandle of Belleville, Jordan is seeking at least $250,000 in damages from defendants including Bridgemark Healthcare, LLC, which operates Willow Creek. The suit names the nursing home's administrator Amy Gibbs and director of nursing Kim Hutcheson as respondents in discovery.

The complaint alleges the defendants violated the Nursing Home Act and Wrongful Death Act.

Neely is survived by five daughters, including Jordan, and four sons, the suit claims.
