Property owners Adeline A. Fournie, James Fournie and Joseph Fournie claim Belleville Concrete Contracting Co. sold approximately five acres of land they own in Belleville to another business.
The Fournies filed suit in St. Clair County Circuit Court Nov. 9 claiming Belleville Concrete sold a parcel of land to DESCO in August 2006 which included acreage that has belonged to them for many years.
According to the Fournies' suit, Belleville Concrete received in excess of $40,000 per acre for the land that belonged to them.
Represented by Robert J. Bassett of Donovan, Rose, Nester & Joley in Belleville, the Fournies are seeking in excess of $50,000 in damages.
"That the retention of this money by Belleville Concrete Contracting Company is unjust and inequitable and that their retention of this money violates the principles of justice, equity and good conscience," the complaint states.
