Schnuck pharmacy tech claims wrongful termination

A former Schnuck pharmacy technician has filed a wrongful termination suit claiming she was discharged Feb. 21 for incorrectly ringing up an ineligible food item as a food stamp purchase.

According to a suit filed Oct. 19 in St. Clair County Circuit Court, Greta Y. Frazier claims that a recent decision by the Illinois Department of Employment Security concluded that her employer did not establish that she "willfully or deliberately violated its (Schnuck's) food stamp procedure policies," the complaint states.

Frazier had worked at an East St. Louis location, the complaint states.

Represented by Edward J. Blake of Blake & Allen in Belleville, Frazier is seeking in excess of $50,000 in damages claiming she suffered lost wages and benefits and loss of position.

"...[T]he Referee cited testimony from a co-manager for the Defendant who admitted that the procedure which the Plaintiff followed had been allowed in the past and that Plaintiff was not aware of any policy change regarding said procedure," the complaint states.
