A jury in St. Clair County Circuit Court returned a verdict on Feb. 29, 2012 in favor of Dr. Sarah M. Thompson, who had been sued by Regina Hamilton of Mt. Vernon in 2007.
The trial lasted two days in Circuit Judge Lloyd Cueto's court.
Hamilton filed suit against Sarah M. Thompson, D.M.D and Dental Group of Mt. Vernon in St. Clair County Circuit Court Oct. 15, 2007 seeking more than $100,000 in damages.
She claimed Dr. Thompson treated her between Feb. 2, 2005, and Oct. 18, 2005, in Mt. Vernon. Her lawsuit claimed that her dentist fitted a temporary fixed partial denture in her mouth even though a root tip remained after a tooth extraction.
Hamilton was represented by Brian K. Zirkelbach of Reed, Heller, Mansfield & Gross of Murphysboro, Ill.
Thompson was represented by Ken Burke, a principal with the Brown & James firm in Belleville.
"Hamilton brought suit, accusing negligence, and the jury returned a verdict in her (Thompson's) favor after hearing the evidence," defense attorney Ken Burke said.
