Caseyville bar blamed for customer attacking fellow customer

A patron of a Caseyville bar claims her property was damaged and she suffered a disabling injury to her left shoulder when a fellow patron of the Olde Bridge Inn attacked and battered her.

Mandy Ludgate filed a negligence and Dram Shop suit in St. Clair County Circuit Court Oct. 1 against the bar and its owner Carol Lee.

She also claims that as a result of the alleged attack by customer Michael Durham on April 13, she has also suffered the loss of means of support.

Represented by David A. Nester of Nester & Constance of Belleville, Ludgate is seeking in excess of $100,000 in damages.

Ludgate claims Lee sold alcoholic liquors to Durham which allegedly caused his intoxication.

She claims the tavern and its owner owed her and other patrons a duty to keep the premises safe for all invitees, but failed to provide adequate security to prevent altercations.

Ludgate claims she has lost earnings, incurred medical expenses and suffered pain, all of which will continue into the future.
