Thouvenot, Wade & Moerchen is being sued by a client who alleges the civil engineering firm failed to perform appropriate hydraulic calculations and failed to properly assess flood plains on land parcels in the Orchards neighborhood in Belleville.
Double Eagle Development, Inc. filed the complaint in St. Clair County Circuit Court Oct. 5.
Represented by Thomas Q. Keefe, Jr. of Belleville, Double Eagle Development is seeking in excess of $150,000 in damages claiming it could not acquire the necessary permits for development because the land it purchased -- the 17th and 18th additions -- was in a flood plain.
Double Eagle Development claims it was required to dig retention ponds, purchase more land and pay increased interest rates all to its damage in a substantial amount.
