A whole new roof that didn't hold up may cost Bade Roofing, Inc. of St. Louis more than $470,000.
Q-Med Inc., located at 955 North 1st St. in National City, claims a new roof installed by Bade Roofing blew off during a windstorm on July 19, 2006, allowing water to penetrate the property.
Q-Med, which manufactures medical devices, claims its property was damaged in the approximate amount of $470,000.
Represented by Robert W. Cockerham of Brown & James in St. Louis, Q-Med claims Bade Roofing failed to install the roof in a professional, workmanlilke manner and failed to comply with provisions of the Uniform Building Code, among other standards.
The suit, filed Oct. 8 in St. Clair County Circuit Court, also claims the defendant failed to install a roof that could resist sustained wind speeds below what is required of a roof in the property's locale.
