St. Louis Tan Co. and Gold's Gym are being sued by a woman whose daughter was injured two years ago in a children's playroom at the O'Fallon location.
Jacqueline Sims claims her 10-year-old daughter Cadeshia Prather received multiple injuries when her leg became entangled in play equipment on Oct. 5, 2005.
The girl's leg snapped, according to a lawsuit filed Oct. 4 in St. Clair County Circuit Court. She suffered a displaced triplane fracture of the right tibia and vertical fracture of the malleolus and right knee, including osteoporosis.
Represented by Michael McGlynn of McGlynn & McGlynn of Belleville, Sims is seeking in excess of $150,000 in damages.
Sims claims the defendants negligently supervised her child and provided an unsafe play environment.
Playsmart Inc. also is named as a defendant. The suit claims the play equipment was unreasonably dangerous.
