Doctors get out of Hoekstra malpractice suit

Physicians Laurance Monckton and Aamir Javaid extracted themselves from a Madison County malpractice suit set for trial Oct. 1.

Attorney Rex Carr, representing Edward Hoekstra of Godfrey, dismissed the doctors in August.

He did not dismiss the clinics that employed them.

Monckton worked for New RPS and Javaid worked for Midwest Acute Care Consultants.

Carr plans to proceed to trial against the clinics and Alton Memorial Hospital, where Hoekstra lost most of his small bowel in surgery.

Circuit Judge Barbara Crowder will preside.

Carr previously dismissed Answer Midwest, an answering service he blamed for failing to relay a message from doctor to doctor.
