Jersey County woman sues man for punching her in face

A Jersey County woman filed a personal injury suit against Dustin Honchell claiming he caused multiple fractures and irreversible injuries to her face after punching her.

Carla Amburg alleges she and her fiance were at co-defendant Scott Link's residence in Godfrey to give Honchell a ride on Dec. 29, 2006.

Represented by Edward Fanning of Hardin, Amburg filed suit in Madison County Circuit Court July 31, seeking damages in excess of $250,000.

She claims Honchell, who was allegedly in an intoxicated state, attempted to punch her fiance, however he missed and struck her in the face causing her to sustain broken bones, contusions and bruising.

Amburg claims Link negligently and carelessly provided alcoholic beverages to Honchell after he was already in an intoxicated state and allowed him to remain on his property to consume alcohol while continuing to be in an intoxicated state.

According to the complaint, Amburg also is seeking damages from the Do Drop Inn in Dow, Ill., located in Jersey County, and Our Cliffside Tavern in Godfrey claiming that before the alleged incident, Honchell was also drinking alcoholic beverages at both establishments.

Amburg claims her injuries caused a permanent disability, pain, anguish, permanent injury in the body and mind, medical expenses, lost wages, and loss of a normal life.
