A Waterloo woman is suing the Cancer Treatment Center in Swansea claiming she suffered burns and damage to her vocal cords as the result of a radiation overdose.
In a suit filed June 20 in St. Clair County Circuit Court, Jeanne Schrader alleges the defendants, including Memorial and St. Elizabeth's Healthcare Services LLP and Susan J. Laduzinksy, M.D., failed to calibrate their machinery to determine if the proper dose of radiation was given during a cancer treatment June 20, 2005.
Schrader had been seeking treatment for recurrent breast cancer, the complaint states.
She also alleges she was negligently positioned so as to allow her to receive an excess dose of radiation.
Schrader claims she has suffered the recurrence of cancer.
Represented by James R. Williams of Williams, Caponi and Associates of Belleville, Schrader is seeking in excess of $150,000 in damages.
