Domino's suit claims pizzas and butter dots were tainted

A Granite City woman filed a civil suit against Domino's Pizza in Madison County Circuit Court May 21, alleging the food she purchased caused her to become ill.

Mary Ann Ramsey claims she purchased a pepperoni pizza, sausage pizza and garlic butter "dots" on April 21, 2004 at the Domino's at 2201 Madison Ave. in Granite City.

According to the complaint, Ramsey's food was not merchantable at the time they were sold because they were tainted, adulterated, spoiled, not of an average quality and were not fit for ordinary purchase.

Ramsey alleges after she ate the pizzas she became ill with gastritis, food poisoning, or other gastro-intestinal illnesses or conditions that resulted in medical and hospital expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering.

Represented by Edward Szewczyk of Granite City, Ramsey is seeking damages in an amount less than $75,000.
