George Williams of Carbondale wants U.S. Chief District Judge Patrick Murphy to give him his job back at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale as the food service assistant manager because he has chosen to pursue his life, liberty and happiness in Carbondale and his termination has hindered that.
Williams filed a handwritten civil rights suit in federal court May 22, complaining that despite applying for numerous jobs at SIUC since 1997, he was only able to secure a position as a food service manager.
According to Williams, a SIUC alumni, the only position he has ever been hired for has been in food service, despite being interviewed for other positions at least 17 times. He claims the laws of probability should have assured him a position, but that he has never been hired.
Williams alleges he had a 3.4 GPA while earning his "B.S." degree.
He claims that in September 2006, two months after finally getting his job, he was fired and his termination "violated his God-given and constitutional rights."
Williams claims several individuals conspired to commit illegal acts and they blame him for them.
"I believe the evidence will show dark deeds of conspiracy," Williams wrote in his complaint. "May God Bless you and others."
Williams asks Murphy to make things "like they never happened." He also wants an investigation into his denial of a small business loan in 1997.
"I want to be allowed to continue my pursuit of life, liberty and happiness without hindering."
