A bridge inspector with Illinois Central Railroad filed a Federal Employers' Liability Act suit in St. Clair County Circuit Court claiming he developed carpal tunnel syndrome in both upper extremities on-the-job.
According to Christopher L. Franklin's suit filed May 14, the railroad, doing business as Canadian National/Illinois Central Railroad, failed to provide him a reasonably safe place to work, failed to provide safe tools and equipment and failed to provide reasonably safe methods of work.
Franklin, represented by Robert W. Schmieder of Pratt & Tobin in East Alton, claims he discovered his injuries in March 2005.
He is seeking in excess of $50,000 in damages.
